A Married Couple Gets Hyper About Their Abusive And Excessive Drinking And Questions Whether They Manifest Any Alcohol Addiction Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for six years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they with forethought established an exceptionally active social life.

The chief problem, it needs to be highlighted, is that virtually everything they do socially has something to do with drinking. For example, all of the parties with friends, sporting events, dinner engagements, happy hours, and family get-togethers they frequent somehow involve drinking.

If they were responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a big problem. Because they drink quite abusively, however, they are starting to observe some clear-cut alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just six days ago Lenny received a second DUI and has been calling off from work due to alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Lenny's last two performance reviews at work have been less than laudable and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been going through sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit apprehension about his drinking behavior.

Not unlike Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling depressed with life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more frequently than any time in the past eight months. In addition, Angie has been experiencing more than a few headaches and having terrible hangovers due to her drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling significantly less energetic when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least every other day, and she has been getting some strong criticism from her coworkers, family members, relatives, and friends about her abusive drinking.

One Thursday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie inadvertently discovered a fascinating documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV program was a real surprise to Lenny and Angie because more than a few of the alcohol facts that were gone over seemed like they were unwaveringly related to some of the drinking problems Lenny and Angie had been going through.

With thoughts of the TV special still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a signal that they are dependent on alcohol or maybe becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the local alcohol abuse rehab facility to find out more about the severity of their drinking problems.

Paradoxically, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Angie and Lenny were at least concentrating on their drinking issues, they were ready to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in finding out how they could significantly lessen or eliminate the alcohol-related problems that had begun to intensify.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they determined that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol treatment center located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to defeat the alcohol-related difficulties that had cropped up in their lives, they in point of fact had the best night's sleep they could remember in the last month.
