An Adolescent Challenges Her Drinking Classmates To Dig Up More Information About Alcohol Abuse And Alcohol Dependency

Heather drank quite often and quite a lot with her buddies. One Friday after all her classes were completed, she began reflecting on the amount of alcohol she ingested on a regular basis and the drinking behavior or her friends. As a consequence of this, she asked all of her buddies the following question: "what do we honestly know about alcoholism, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and alcohol abuse? In other words, how much alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse information do we honestly know? For our age, we certainly drink in a hazardous and excessive manner and I am starting to wonder if we are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related issues down the road.
I believe we should go online and find out all we can about alcohol abuse, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and binge drinking. And then if we have any relevant issues that we do not comprehend after we conclude our online research, we can take a hike to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Urbanic to help us understand what we cannot comprehend.
It should not come as a great surprise that what Heather said would start a heated discussion. For instance, her best friend since the sixth grade, Maeve, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be worried about irresponsible and abusive drinking. Another friend named Isaac believed that since most high school students drink there is no logical reason why they should be any different. Another buddy named Molly said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another classmate named Nickolas actually agreed with Heather mainly because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related difficulties.
Heather told her pals that she comprehended everything that they had articulated but that engaging in irresponsible drinking at such a susceptible age in all honesty cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward establishing a worthwhile life. When a few of her friends asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Heather was discussing, Heather mentioned the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, and cancer, and other alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances).
When Heather then stressed that abusive and unhealthy drinking usually results in financial, school, legal, and relationship problems, some of her drinking pals finally started to understand how extensive and how unhealthy careless drinking can be. To be sure some of her drinking pals opened up and started to reveal how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected some of their friends and their parents.
After emphasizing some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to careless drinking, the vast majority of her friends liked the idea about getting information online. They were, conversely, leery about discussing their drinking behavior with the administrators at school. As Heather thought about this she told herself, "at least they are willing to find out more about their hazardous drinking. This is a great start."
